  • Yield: 6-8 servings

Ingredients

  • 4 cups bread cubes (day-old bread)
  • 12 oz smoked sausage, sliced
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or blend)
  • 1/2 cup onion, diced

  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley or chives (optional)

Instructions

  3. Spread half of the bread cubes in the baking dish.
  4. Layer half of the sausage mixture and some cheese over the bread.
  5. Repeat with remaining bread, sausage mixture, and cheese.
  6. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and black pepper.
  7. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the layers, pressing gently to soak the bread.

  10. Cool slightly, garnish with herbs if desired, and serve.
