Air Fryer Sweet Potato Chips Recipe

Air Fryer Sweet Potato Chips are crispy, flavorful snacks made with thinly sliced sweet potatoes and minimal oil. They offer a healthier alternative to traditional fried chips while delivering satisfying crunch and natural sweetness.

  • Total Time: 28 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 medium sweet potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Optional: garlic powder, onion powder, or cayenne pepper for extra flavor

Instructions

  1. Wash and peel the sweet potatoes if desired.
  2. Slice the sweet potatoes into very thin rounds, about 1/8 inch thick.
  3. Place the slices in a large bowl and drizzle with olive oil.
  4. Add salt, pepper, paprika, and any additional seasonings. Toss well to coat evenly.
  5. Preheat the air fryer to 340°F (170°C).
  6. Arrange the sweet potato slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overcrowding.
  7. Cook for 10 minutes, then flip the chips or shake the basket.
  8. Continue cooking for another 5 to 10 minutes until the edges are crisp and lightly browned.
  9. Remove chips as they become crispy, since thinner slices may cook faster.
  10. Allow the chips to cool for several minutes to become even crispier.
  11. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use a mandoline slicer for evenly sized chips and more consistent cooking.
  • Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket for maximum crispness.
  • Store cooled chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in the air fryer at 300°F (150°C) for 2 to 3 minutes to restore crunch.
  • Try cinnamon sugar, ranch seasoning, smoked paprika, or cayenne for flavor variations.
  • Leaving the skin on adds extra texture and nutrients.
