Creamy French Onion Ground Beef Casserole with Noodles is a comforting baked dish made with savory ground beef, tender egg noodles, and a rich creamy French onion–inspired sauce. Finished with melted cheese and baked until bubbly, it’s a hearty and satisfying meal perfect for family dinners or weeknight cooking.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 8 oz egg noodles
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet French onion soup mix
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook egg noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add sliced onions and cook until softened and lightly caramelized.
  5. Stir in minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.
  7. Stir in French onion soup mix, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and beef broth. Mix until combined.
  8. Add cooked egg noodles and toss until evenly coated with the sauce.
  9. Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish.
  10. Sprinkle mozzarella and cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  11. Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  12. Remove from the oven and garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Caramelizing the onions adds depth and sweetness to the casserole.
  • You can add mushrooms, peas, or spinach for extra flavor and nutrition.
  • If reheating, cover with foil to prevent the casserole from drying out.
