Mini Medianoche Sandwiches

Mini Medianoche Sandwiches are sweet and savory Cuban-style party sandwiches filled with roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard. Baked until warm and melty, they are perfect for gatherings, game days, or family meals.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 12 mini sandwiches

Ingredients

  • 1 package mini sweet rolls or Hawaiian rolls (12 rolls)
  • 12 oz roasted pork, thinly sliced or shredded
  • 12 oz deli ham
  • 6 slices Swiss cheese, halved
  • 24 dill pickle slices
  • 2 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Slice the rolls in half horizontally, keeping them connected if using pull-apart rolls.
  3. Spread the mustard evenly over the bottom half of the rolls.
  4. Layer the roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese, and pickle slices over the rolls.
  5. Place the top half of the rolls back on top.
  6. Brush the tops with melted butter.
  7. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the sandwiches are heated through.
  8. For a crispier finish, gently press the sandwiches with a heavy pan or bake covered for the first few minutes, then uncover until golden.
  9. Slice into individual sandwiches and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use turkey instead of ham for a lighter variation.
  • Dijon mustard can be substituted for a sharper flavor.
  • Add jalapeños or hot sauce for extra heat.
  • Leftover pulled pork works well in place of roasted pork.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze tightly wrapped sandwiches for up to 2 months.
