Cordon Bleu Sandwiches

A crispy, cheesy sandwich layered with tender chicken, savory ham, Swiss cheese, and a creamy Dijon sauce. This cordon bleu twist makes a hearty and satisfying meal.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 2 sandwiches

Ingredients

  • 2 cooked chicken breasts, sliced or breaded chicken cutlets
  • 4 slices ham
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 4 sandwich rolls or slices of bread
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and lemon juice to make the sauce.
  2. Spread the sauce on the inside of the bread or rolls.
  3. Layer chicken, ham, and Swiss cheese on the bottom half of each sandwich.
  4. Top with the remaining bread.
  5. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add butter.
  6. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3 to 5 minutes per side, until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted.
  7. Remove from heat, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use turkey instead of chicken for a lighter option.
  • Add a crispy breaded coating to the chicken for extra texture.
  • Swap Swiss cheese for provolone or mozzarella if desired.
  • Try a honey mustard sauce for a sweeter variation.
  • Bake at 375°F (190°C) instead of pan-frying if preferred.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 1 day and reheat in a skillet or oven.
  • Avoid microwaving to maintain crispness.
